Hari kedua dikurniakan nikmat nasi putih berlaukkan daging green curry. Maaf terlupa ambil gambar.

Nasi Putih + Sambal Udang Tauhu + Sayur Kobis + Daging Kicap = Kenyang sangat!!Alhamdulillah

Bowling in Perth

We've been here quite sometime ago. Totally forgot about this entry, which had been saved in the draft waiting to be edited and published. Really sorry if for these few days, the entries would be a bit outdated as am clearing all the draft posts.

This was my first time bowling here in Perth and definitely the first experience for Maryam, Alhamdulillah. Although she didn't got the chance to play, she still had a great time rearranging the ball each time people had their turn. We went there with some of the sisters here Alhamdulillah. Oh yes, since it was Friday night and the nearest bowling centre in Bentley was fully booked, we then headed to the next nearest centre to us, which is in Morley.

We had a great hangout together with the girls, Alhamdulillah. Hehe..Once in a while =)
Oh yes, the costs of playing for 10 games is about $14, if I'm not mistaken. I think there are special offer for those interested which can be found further at their website here

School Holiday Activity II: A day @ Scitech WA

Since half of the school holidays were spent in Malaysia, we just went around Perth for the remaining days left before school begins insyaAllah next week. So we decided to bring Maryam to Scitech in West Perth last Tuesday. We actually planned to bring her to the Dinosour Petting Zoo in WA Museum, but it seems that all tickets were sold out until the end of the week. Thus, first time visit to Scitech - Alhamdulillah!

We started off the day quite late, at about 10 am. Not a wise decision. The parking was full and we've searched rounds and rounds at the small parking spaces, hoping other people were leaving the places. Spent about 30minutes there, plus the journey time which took as about half an hour too - it's almost lunch and Zuhur time. Thus we ended up parking our car at the Harbour Town, had lunch at ISPA Kebab and had our prayer there too. Alhamdulillah.

Spacious and convenient prayer room, Alhamdulillah

We arrived at the Scitech, which is located just few minutes walk from the Harbour Town at nearly 1pm. And this was the long queue just to purchase the tickets!

The ticket counter is at the far end of the building

We started off with the Cosmic Collision, at the Horizon Planetarium. Scheduled to starts at 1.30pm. Luckily we queued earlier as per clock shown as the queue was horribly long!

Soon after that, we quickly queued for the Dinosour Puppet Show - an interesting and funny for the kids, Alhamdulillah! And then we explored all the science experiments at the centre, with a special appearances of the dinosours until it's time to make a move for Asr prayer..

A special robot, where you just sit on the allocated chair, posing and smile at the robot and it will draw a picture of you! The photo shows the robot is drawing a picture of a kid.
The crowd was quite big, so we might come again next time and for sure not during the school holidays insyaAllah!

The time will come, sooner or later.

Fruit cocktail Strudel

I've promised earlier to put a special entry on this really simple recipe especially if you have such limited time to prepare a dessert. Learned from a friend of mine, Kak Sheeda sometime ago. Alhamdulillah. If you have the time, why don't you give it a try =)
What you'll need is just a whipping cream, fruit cocktail (or other fruits of your choice, normally people use apples) and also a puff pastry.

First, you need to whip the cream until it becomes fluffy. If you prefer it to be a bit sweet, you can add some icing sugar at your own level of sweetness. I'd prefer to add the icing sugar, so that it would be tastier.

Whipped cream

Next, you need to bake the puff pastry according to the instructions given at the back of the packet. I prefer it to be cut into 8 small pieces. You can also make a large strudel and cut into small pieces later on once you've finished. But I don't like to make it like that as it wouldn't look nice - a bit messy especially when you try to cut it with the cream and fruits stuffed in the middle.
puff pastry

Here's how it would look like before putting another puff pastry on top.

And it's ready to eat!

School holiday activity I : Theater, here we come!

Had the chance to go and watch Hare Brain by Spare Parts Puppets Theatre yesterday. Alhamdulillah. First experience for all of us, to watch theatre here in Australia. The last time I watched a theatre was in Malaysia, where my eldest brother was the main actor, performing during his year in Akademi TV3.

The theater lasted for an hour, and I would say that it's a great experience for my little girl, Alhamdulillah. Thanks to Aunty Sheri to invite us, joining this wonderful school holiday activity. More info on this can be found here.

In the auditorium, before the theater begins

Can't wait !
Sorry as no photos are allowed during the theater. But I would say congratulations for both the actress for making the theater fun especially for the kids. Alhamdulillah. And it's very creative of them, making full use of everyday objects such as mops, broom etc to make a puppet instead of using the puppets itself. Two thumbs up for the production team!

Then, we headed to the Chicken Treat, located just 2 minutes walking from the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre to buy our lunch. Alhamdulillah. Now there's various options for lunch deals at only $4.95! So, we had royal burger and chips for all five of us! Yummy!

Sunday before Ramadhan

It's the last Sunday before Ramadhan insyaAllah. Counting the days, and it's now less than a week. Hoping to see Ramadhan again this year insyaAllah.

And since it was the last day of the Pre-Ramadhan Expo, we took the opportunity to go there and have a look on what's being offered. Heard about this kind of expo since last year we've arrived but only got the chance to be there this year, Alhamdulillah. Saw the banner outside the building on Wednesday but were quite eager to have a peek after being recommended by a junior and also a friend of mine, Najhwar who went there on Saturday.

The crowd wasn't that big, maybe it's still quite early in the morning or maybe people have gone there during the past two days.  And I guess some of the products offered were sold out. Huhu..

an alternative for the girls to have a fully covered and pretty muslimah princess

The prices were quite reasonable. But for those who didn't have the chance to be there, you can visit their website at Islamic Books & Clothing at www.ibcshopping.com.au as they aren't local bookshop. They came here all the way from Victoria. Besides that, if you're in Perth, there's one Islamic bookshop located in Langford Avenue, which I guess they offer cheaper price for some of the items.

We spent few hours browsing the books, clothes etc. Mostly were for the little Maryam and a book for hubby and some Halal lollies for us...hehe.. Alhamdulillah. We then headed for lunch and quickly back home as hubby has other plan to meet his friends, came from Malaysia. So, made Kuehtiau Goreng Basah for them for potluck.

Express Kuetiau Goreng without vege.
Stok sayur dah habis, tak sempat nak beli =(

Really sorry Cha for not be able to come for your kenduri =(
Missed the chance to meet you and Kak Umi. InsyaAllah, next time.
But Allah has better plan Alhamdulillah. Got the chance to meet Kak Umi just now at Chicken Treat Thornlie =)

Unexpected trip to Melbourne

Our return flight to Perth was scheduled to arrive at 5.25 in the morning. However, due to the fog and haze in Perth, our flight had been redirected to Melbourne! Which was another 4 hours journey! Our initial plan was we should be arriving in the morning, so that we've ample time to fetch the hubby in the evening. But Alhamdulillah, Uncle is there to help us. He was waiting for us in the airport that morning, but due to the unexpected incident, he was the one to pick the hubby! Alhamdulillah =)

Maryam was sleeping all the way from KL to Perth, and also to Melbourne! She only woke up once to finish her meal!

Luckily the seat next to her was empty. More spaces for her to sleep comfortably. Alhamdulillah

Arrived in Melbourne unexpectedly. Alhamdulillah.

I admit that the journey was quite tiring. All luggages had to be taken out from plane, going through the immigration, up and down the bus; to and from the hotel with the luggages...alone with Maryam! Oh yes, the luggages were almost 50kg! Once we've checked in at the hotel, it was already 1pm. Maryam was definitely hungry. She didn't eat anything except for the half of the sausage roll at about 5.00 in the morning. So, with the map provided at the hotel lobby, off we went like a pro!

Searching for the nearest Halal restaurant for lunch

After walking about 15minutes, we finally arrived at the nearest Halal restaurant that we can find. It is Mama Wong's Kitchen, located at Flinders St. Alhamdulillah, Allah makes us easy as the restaurant was actually closed, with us the last customer for the lunch period. A large rice and chicken curry, vegetarian popia and a drink for both of us. Couldn't ask for more, Alhamdulillah. We then headed back to our hotel, to get some rest, which is about 2 and a half hours before our journey back to the airport.

With our simple lunch

The hotel is quite spacious and comfy. Not sure about the rate. We actually don't expect that we would be given such great hotel, as we're travelling on a low cost carrier; but ALhamdulillah, such a great experience and journey for us.

On the bed, comfy!

Spacious toilet!

Free light refreshment

Enjoying the meal before night sleep
Allah made everything so easy and manageable for us Alhamdulillah. There were few gentlemens and ladies willingly help us with our large luggages, showing us the way etc. Couldn't ask for more. Alhamdulillah. My little girl, Maryam Safiyyah also is such a big girl now. She behaves really well and matures enough; not like her age. I know that I can rely on her, she can accompany me like a best friend insyaAllah. Alhamdulillah.

We've travelled more than 13 hours on flight. That makes me feel that, my little girl insyaAllah is ready for long journey to the most awaited destination insyaAllah. InsyaAllah. Moga Allah permudahkan!Ameen!

Photo taken from a book while in the plane, currently reading.
May Allah protects me & family from being one of those.
