Ice cream, ice cream

When we first arrived here, it was winter. So whenever she asked for it, I would definitely say no. Pity her. Sebab memang weather sejuk sangat and I don't want her to get sick. Yelah, dah lah cuaca sejuk pastu nak makan ice-cream yang sememangnya sejuk. Really sorry dear.

Lama juga terpaksa tunggu. Sometimes whenever she saw ice-cream either in the junk mail catalogue or during our groceries trip, she surely asked for it. But Alhamdulillah, she can accept my explanation.

Since winter is over, and spring is here. Dapatlah jugak dia merasa. The first time was during one of the openhouses. One of the desserts was chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream. Punyalah excited Maryam! So since that, dapatlah merasa ice-cream kat rumah lepas Ummi nya beli a box of ice-cream and ice-cream cones.hehe..

Muka excited dapat makan ice-cream sepuasnya

Please excuse the slipper..huhu
Tapi setakat sehari dua saja mintaknya, sekarang ni dah jemu agaknya. Dah tak minta nak makan dah sekarang ni..

Duit raya

Wasn't expected that there's such tradition to give duit raya here. Hehe..not that I know when I was in the UK. Macamlah time kat UK tu, zaman budak-budak. Kalau budak-budak kecil dapat duit raya sekalipun, macamlah diri sendiri tahu.huhu..

Maryam tak biasa with this kind of duit raya. Siap tanya, ni apa ni? Untuk apa aunty tu bagi? Hadiah? Hadiah apa ni? hehe...Rezeki la tu, siapa nak bagi duit raya kat sini. So, kiranya ni first duit raya for her in Perth. Thanks to Aunty Luth! =)

Excited!

Aidilfitri in Perth

This year, 1432H marked our first year celebrating Eidul-Fitri in Perth, Alhamdulillah. Not much preparation though, since the Raya mood were not there until the first day of Eid Fitr! In Perth, although we stay quite close and in the same area, some of us were celebrating their 1st Syawal on Wednesday, depending on which mosque/method that they use. Weird? Yup. But, this is quite common especially if you were outside Malaysia/Saudi where the 1st Syawal has been set and agreed for the whole country.

For us, the 1st Syawal was just another day. Sounds sad, isn't it. Hehe..We've spent the morning itself at the Licensing Centre as hubby's having his driving test. Alhamdulillah, rezeki Syawal- he also passed! Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah. Then, we went back home and out again to send hubby to the train station. Yup, he's working! He took half day off just for the test. Then, barulah mood Raya coming. Went for grocerres shopping- beef, etc. Kelakar sungguh! Alhamdulillah, the Halal shop still opens. Kalau kat Malaysia, sah2 lah kedai banyak tutup and last minute shopping sure takdapat apa.

As soon as we're back home, mulalah 'berperang' kat dapur while Maryam and I 'skype'ing with family in Malaysia. They, as usual pun beraya kat rumah sahaja. Itulah nasib beraya tanpa kampung halaman. Since my closest Malaysian neighbour is still fasting on Tues, so we decided to give some of our Raya dishes yang tak seberapa for their iftar. Alhamdulillah =) We made the usual Raya dishes; nasi minyak, nasi impit, kuah kacang and beef rendang.

Another du'a heard..

Alhamdulillah, I managed to pass the test in the first attempt. Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.

Since Malaysia is not in the list of recognised countries for driving license in WA, we need to sit for all driving test; computerised theory test and also practical driving test. Alhamdulillah, we managed to scored full marks ;D for the computerised test, which then leads us to the practical test.

Although you are experienced driver in Malaysia, it does not mean that you can easily pass the test. It's all about rezeki actually. The practical test here is quite tough as it test you on very small and tedious things not like what we've done in Malaysia. We didn't have to test for 'bukit', and that kind of side parking, but it is more on your behaviour and your focus on driving. Every second, you need to show that you check the mirrors (all mirrors), check your blind spot when changing lanes or turning (turn your head around ya!), and of course, mind the speed limit. If you drive over the speed limit of just by 2 (limit 40 but you drive 42), goodbye to you. You failed! And it is common to hear that people only got their driving license on their 2nd or maybe 3rd sitting.

Alhamdulillah, Allah makes it easy for me. Alhamdulillah =)
