Ramadhan's leaving..

Although we feel sad that Ramadhan is leaving us again this year, the momentum that we had started during the current holy month of Ramadhan shouldn't be stopped and may all of us istiqamah with what we've done or even better, insyaAllah.

Let's check the result of our Ramadhan. Something to ponder, credit to this site. Hoping that we graduated with flying colours. Ameen.

Story telling session

Managed to spent one hour for the library kids weekly session for the first time, Alhamdulillah. Maryam was quite excited to hear and really looking forward for it. As soon as we arrived at the car park, it is expected that the crowd will be big from the cars being parked in front of the library. That was not a normal view during that hour on weekdays except if there's event happening there.

Yup, as expected, the room was full. Full with children and mothers from various backgrounds; locals, Chinese or even Muslims. Alhamdulillah. Even the story teller surprised with the large crowd.

Before the story time, they were singing nursery rhymes just to make sure the kids got comfortable and had two way interactions. All of them were very friendly and sporting, especially mothers whom also singing together. Maryam was not very familiar with some of the rhymes, so she just observed and watched others. Plus, she's quite distracted with crayons and colours on the table in the room.

After the story time, kids were then having a short session of arts and craft. They coloured, cut and paste the papers given according to their own creativity. Since the story was about frogs, so they were colouring and making a paper frog =)

Maryam busy doing here colouring.

After that, queueing to get a small 'token'

Can't wait for her turn!
Alhamdulillah! Looking forward to join them again insyaAllah.

Baking session: It's muffins time!

Maryam has been asking for this for quite some time. Pity her. Have to wait from one day to another. It's not that I do not want to buy it for her. It's just because I want to make it myself just for her.

Alhamdulillah. We managed to bake it ourselves. Just me and Maryam. Our baking lesson for the day. Hehe..

Right after Zuhr, off we went to shop for ingredients. Planning to bake two different flavours; strawberry & double chocolate.

Strawberry muffins; before being put in the oven

Maryam in action

Stir stir stir..

Yummy!

Fresh from the oven

Alhamdulillah!
Alhamdulillah, all done! Taste is really nice and yummy except for the chocolate muffin which turned out a bit hard on the outside but still yummy. The texture is a like a chocolate cake though..And now, since there were about 20 pieces of them..have to think hard on how soon can it be finished since there are just 3 of us. Dah lah Ramadhan. Lepas berbuka and having rice, memang susah la kan nak makan muffin pula sebab nanti terover loaded..huhu

Petrol prices up and down..

Petrol or fuel prices here is fluctuating daily. It sometimes can be as low as 129.90cents and can reach 145.90cents. What is special here is that eventhough you wanted to fill up your tank using Calte*x in Street A, for instance, that does not necessarily means that Calte*x in Street Z offers the same price on the same day!

We then realise that we can check the fuel prices from the internet, to make life easier to choose whichever offers lower rates nearby. We normally check here, definitely not on daily basis. We only check when the fuel tank started to show empty :P

So one day, we went to the petrol station nearby which offers the cheapest rate. And this is what you will have to face...

People doesn't mint queueing just to benefit the low fuel price

Yup, longggggggg queue!!!! Heheh.. Especially if you want to fill after working hours. If not, I believed the queue shouldn't be this long! Hhehe..serves us right, and please don't think that you are smart enough as I believed all people know the benefits of the internet especially to get the cheapest in anything! hehe..=D

Furthermore, there will be a further discounts of 4cents per litre, if we have a discounted coupon. It's easy to get the coupun actually. If you normally do your groceries either at Col*es or Wool*worths for more than AUD30, you are entitled for this coupon. The only difference is that, coupon receives from Col*es can only be used at Shel*l Col*es and the latter can be used at any Caltex*. And there is one time where there give discount of 8cents per litre! It's just that you need to be extra alert and make full use of the offers like this. For us, sometimes we left the receipt at home when we wanted to fill the tank. So, have to make sure we keep the receipt in the car.

Library visit

It seems that it'll becoming a routine for us every Friday to visit this place. Maryam really enjoying herself and couldn't wait for the next visit. Alhamdulillah, Allah make it easy for us so far. Although we only manage to be there three times, but hopefully we can spend our time there, loving the environment and occupy our time wisely insyaAllah.

Since both of us a member, we can borrow 10 items on each card. That includes books, puzzle, dvd or even magazines. Maryam is really excited and tends to take every books that she found to borrow although we've read it there.

Sitting on one of the pink chairs. Reminds her of her own chair in Msia

Smiling from ear to ear - our third time here
During our first visit. A boy came and join us. Maybe Maryam was the only child he can find at that time

The library also organising a story telling session on twice a week, but we've managed to attend any of those yet. InsyaAllah, we'll try to squeeze some of our time as that session might be helpful as a good exposure for Maryam on what she would be expecting when she's entering her kindy next year insyaAllah.

Effective Ramadhan: Tip for those non-fasting/prayer

Ramadan is a blessed time of year often characterized by certain specific forms of worship. Fasting, reading Qur’an and performing salah (five times a day prayer) are the main focus of many people’s time and energy during this month. However, for most women a portion of Ramadan – or in some cases the month in its entirety – passes by without being able to engage in these acts, due namely to menstruation or postnatal bleeding. Often this leads us to feeling disconnected from the sacredness and specialness of Ramadan, and feeling deprived of that spiritual rejuvenation and increase in faith many believers experience in these days.

In order for us to find a sense of spirituality during this time, we may need to amend our way of thinking about it, and perhaps even the paradigm we construct about worship and spirituality as a whole.

Full article can read here. Thanks and credit to this site.

Extract from the article.

Additional suggestions for those non-fasting:-

■If there are iftars being hosted at the masjid, volunteer to serve and help clean up afterwards.

■Buy a jug of Zamzam water and pour it into little bottles and distribute them to everyone at the masjid with dates.

■Babysit during Taraweeh so that the mothers (and everyone else!) can pray with khushu’ and concentration.

■Cook iftar for sisters who are expecting, elderly, students away from home, etc. in your community and deliver it to their homes.

■Do any deep cleaning, laundry, Eid shopping etc. that needs to be done now, so that you can fully focus on Qur’an/salah/etc when you are fasting. You can also prepare and freeze some food now so that you don’t have to cook iftar on other days when you are fasting.

■Spend a lot of time in du`a’, and memorize the du`a’s for different actions (entering the masjid, leaving the home, etc).

■Listen to this du`a’: http://jannah.org/jannahradio/ghamdi_dua.mp3 with the translation: http://jannah.org/jannahradio/dua_ghamdi_trans.txt

■Spend time in salah `ala an-Nabiy, an often overlooked and neglected type of dhikr.

■Memorize Allah’s names and their meanings.

■Make a CD of beautiful Qur’an recitation and du`a’s in mp3 and distribute it to people at the masjid.

■Make Eid/Ramadan goodie bags for the kids so that they love and feel attached to Ramadan.

■Do the adhkar (remembrance of Allah) for morning and evening narrated from the Prophet ﷺ.

■Remember to seek out Laylat ul-Qadr throughout the month and do not let even one night go by without making du`a’. Laylat ul-Qadr could possibly be on any night in Ramadan, not just on the 27th.

■Find out who is sick in your area or in the hospital and go visit them.

■Look for new converts, those who are newly practicing or people who have lost touch with the community and invite them over for iftar.

Calling all fridge magnets fanatics!

Fridge magnets are one of the favourite souveniors either for ourselves or as gift to our relatives/friends when we're out for a holiday. Besides the cost is normally cheaper than other souveniors such as t-shirts, key chains etc, their designs are sometimes irressistible.

Have you met anybody that is really fanatic of fridge magnets?

source: google

I've met some of them. No matter where they go, be it locally or overseas, they'll surely get one of them as a souveniors. Not only that, they managed to get one as a souveniors (paksa rela from those yang pergi holidays..hehe..) No big deal pun..hehhe...Now, it seems that although you've one fridge magnet from London, that doesn't mean you've been there. You can also get it from ebay website and I also been told that you can actually buy them in Genting! Which country are you thinking of buying? You just named it and they've it all! heheh..

But, have you been thinking of getting one with your photos instead? Your family potrait or your cute daughter? Yes, you can actually get it here! They are just RM28 for 6 fridge magnets specially printed with your very own favourite photos! How lovely!

You can't watch this at TV @ Msia

No matter where we go, no matter what we do, solat should always become the priority. Solat at the early hour. Yup, it's really difficult sometimes especially when we are in the midst of doing something. But, let's practice and try to discipline ourselves insyaAllah.

Peringatan untuk diri sendiri khususnya.

Rezeki di pagi Ramadhan

I know, I know... it's just a DVD tales for my lil daughter...
But, the feeling of winning something is just great! Hehe..That's why I really loves entering any competitions.

But, to be honest, I almost forgot that I've joined the contest in the first place. Thought that I've got a scam email when I received the winning notification email.

Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.
